This will be an exploration of culture and music.

 

Culture has such a huge influence over music, and music has such a huge impact upon people, especially young adults. So I figured, why not combine them to make culture, a very important part of our lives and identity, seem a little more interesting.

 

In this process I want your students to realize that almost everything around them is a part of their cultural identity. Within music so much culture is expressed, music allows for an expression of beliefs and values, along with references to how that artist lives life, even the mention of what they drink or wear says so much about cultural identity. I am excited to see how far out of the box they can view culture and relate it back to their music videos.  

 

Navigating this Webquest

 

this webquest is very simply set up go to the PROCESS tabe and from there you will see a drop down of Monday through Friday. All you need to do is stick with that process, on the dropdown for Monday I inform them to go to the INTRODUCTION tab and suggest that they explore the whole website, espescially the EXAMPLES tab to get a better understanding of the project.

 

Communication

 

I encourage you to let the students know that they can contact me whenever they want, they can go to the CONTACT tab and send a message which will go dirrectly to my WebMail. Hopefully I will be able to respond quickly to any of their question or concerns. You are also more than welcome to email me anytime. Hopefully the process will go smoothly, but I know with technology it can at times be very stressfull, so if anything does not work out for you let me know.

They will be reflecting on and explaining important information about personal artwork in an artist statement or another format.

They will be incorporating how method of display, the location, and the experience of an artwork influences how it is perceived and valued.

In creating their music videos they will be thinking about how response to art is influenced by understanding the time and place in which it was created, the available resources, and cultural uses.
